Equine Wound Healing with Indiba

August 12, 2022

On 10th of June 2021 Mint, a 5-year-old pony was brought in with a wound to his pastern caused by getting his foot caught in a metal gate. The injury had occurred several weeks earlier; however, it was being managed conservatively at home. In the weeks prior to Mint being admitted he had reopened the wound several times resulting in it becoming much bigger, and hypertrophic granulated scar tissue was starting to form.

Upon arrival Mint wasn't overly keen on anyone getting close to that wound so it took some bribery. However, Mint quickly realised that we were helping and was accepting of the treatment. Initially we treated with distal to the wound but as sessions went on we were able to treat over the wound itself. Just one treatment turned an unhealthy, yellow looking wound into clean, pink, healthy tissue as can be seen from the photos below.

This wound continued to heal after mint had returned home and was completely healed with no obvious scar or white hairs.
